Check supermarket prices for one item
A Grok Bot session compared Coca-Cola listings on Belgian supermarket sites, paused for a captcha, then finished the price scan after the user stepped in.
- What they did
- Peter van Hees gave Grok Bot a simple request to look up Coca-Cola across major Belgian supermarkets, without specifying the stores or bottle sizes in advance. The agent relied on the supermarkets’ own product pages rather than outside comparison sites. Carrefour then triggered a Cloudflare human check, so the bot passed control to him in the shared browser until he completed it and the run could continue.
- How it went
- The agent initially surfaced 1.5L prices of 2,38 euro at Colruyt and Delhaize, with Albert Heijn at 2,39, and it noted that Aldi and Lidl did not have a directly comparable bottle. It also spotted promotions. Once Carrefour loaded, the ranking changed and Carrefour’s 2L bottle came out lowest at 1,48 per liter. The author said the figures should not be used as publishable fact.
- Tips
- For this kind of shopping task, give the agent a broad target and let it work from store listings, but expect manual help if a site throws up a verification step. Treat the output as a live comparison, not a source for publication.
Try it yourself with Grok Bot
Compare [product name, brand, and size] prices across major [country] supermarket websites, using each store’s own product pages rather than third-party listings. After you check [store 1], [store 2], [store 3], and any others you can access, summarize which option is lowest and which is highest, and mention any promotions or stores without a matching item. If a captcha, login, or other verification blocks you, stop and ask me to take over the browser, then resume only after I confirm. Do not place orders, send forms, delete anything, or submit anything without my approval, and end with a brief comparison list.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
