Set up Claude Code to manage Tangled issues

They built a Tangled MCP server so Claude Code could check branches and handle issues for repos in owner/repo form.

Done with Claude Code· Intermediate

What they did
While auditing an atproto identity visualization project, the developer wanted a way to manage work on code stored in Tangled. They teamed up with Claude Code to create an MCP server, then added it to Anthropic’s MCP registry. The server exposes a connection check, a branch browser, and issue actions for making, editing, removing, and viewing issues.
How it went
The server is still limited to a handful of operations, but it handled the author’s need to create and inspect issues. Support for pull requests seems to run into architectural boundaries, especially for write actions, and the author has not verified whether those changes are possible.
Tips
A tight first version is fine if you only need branches and issues. If you adapt this, build in a confirmation step before any real create, update, delete, or submit action, and follow the project README for setup.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

I want to create an MCP server in [language] for Claude Code that works with [code host or tracker]. It should support repos in the form owner/repo, verify the connection, show branches, and manage issues with separate commands for listing, creating, updating, and deleting. Draft a short README for registering it in Claude Code. Before any step that would change real data or submit anything, stop and ask for my approval. End by showing the issues in [repo name] and wait for me before doing anything else.
